A Waterfall With a Heartbreaking Legend
Lover's Leap is a charming waterfall on the slopes of Pidurutalagala (Sri Lanka's highest mountain), just above the hill town of Nuwara Eliya. Its name comes from a poignant local legend of two lovers who, forbidden to marry, are said to have leapt to their fate from the cliff above — a story that lends the pretty falls a touch of melancholy romance.
